House Hunting

A strange (and exciting) turn of events, we are looking for a house. It all started two weeks ago when my mom called me and gave the address of a house that a friend of hers was looking at and she thought we might be interested in. Before we knew it we were looking at houses online and contacting a mortgage company to see what we could qualify for.

We had thought when we moved back up here, from DC, that we would buy this house (594) and renovate it and make it our own. It's a great house, in Portsmouth, a walk from town, and 5 minutes from the ocean. But, here we are, looking at houses. We've looked in Kittery, Eliot (both in Maine), Dover and Somersworth (both in New Hampshire) all this weekend. We saw a really charming home in Eliot that we were ready to actually put an offer on, but someone else beat us to it. Amazingly, when we were in Somersworth today we saw this house;

The pictures do not due it justice. It has so much charm and character. All wood floors, four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, dining room, living room with fire place, large kitchen, two car garage and lots of yard for Olive and Dylan to run around in. It has so much potential, but needs some love.

Now it's weighing the pros and cons. We looked at several homes today that had possibility. This one however is the one I think has the most "bang for you buck."

Who knows, maybe in a month we'll be moving in to a new home... or maybe we'll still be in Portsmouth, walking to town, enjoying the "city." All-in-all, we are enjoying the thought of possibility. Who knows what will happen next.
