this weekend i tiled our kitchen! the walls were covered in 70's brick-face, which the previous owners painted white (my guess, to look like subway tile). they were horrible! so, i took it all down; it left a very uneven surface. after some joint compound, to fill the gaping holes (okay, that's a little dramatic), i put up all the tiles on saturday. brian had olive out of the house, so i was able to get the mortar mixed and the tiles up in no time. today, on the other hand, i grouted while brian was at work - and olive home with me. it made for a challenging day. but, the grout in done and it looks good. i was multi-tasking, so some grout dried on the tiles, but after some scraping it will be done. oh, and i have a little issue with some of the outlets and outlet covers, but nothing a trip to home depot or lowes can't solve.more pictures to come. hopefully will get the shelf up, above the stove, soon AND get a microwave to fit the shelf (why is that so difficult!?!)
ugh. now me and my aching body need to take some advil and go to bed.
