DC is such a great place for kids. We live a block from the zoo, where we go often. Olive learns about elephants, cheetahs, pandas (we even watch the Smithsonian Panda Cam (click to go to site) from home to check in on the new baby panda - she and I both love it), and so many more animals as we walk through.
We have made it a routine on Sundays to hop on our bikes and ride through the city. It's really the best way to see DC! Whether we ride along Rock Creek Parkway or follow the bike lanes through Adams Morgan, we always find ourselves exploring new parts of the city. Last weekend we ended up riding all the way to Virginia - along the way we cheered on the Marine Marathon runners. Once in Virginia we stopped at a kids festival where Olive and her friend has their faces painted, hula-hooped, and bounced and played. Not to mentioned the ride passed all the memorials and along the water.
We have been able to enjoy so much time as a family while we have been here. Picnics and kite flying at the mall, rides through the city, brass bands playing, farmers markets, parks, museums and the random spot where crafts and entertainment are going on for families to enjoy.

With Halloween there were many choices. We ended up going to Eastern Market where they had a kids "block party" and then walked around the neighborhood to trick-or-treat.

There has been so much to do since we've been here and it's been nice to have the time to do these things together!
As well as having family and friends join us.
We look forward to more adventures.
